Contribution Agreement
We ask that anybody who submits a significant contribution to an Overte Foundation project sign a Contributor's License Agreement (CLA). A significant contribution is currently defined as
- A new feature of any size.
- Any other code change of more than 100 lines.
Bug fixes, implementations of existing LSL functions or patches that fill in missing parts of existing features will not count as new features.
The CLA explicitly declares that the contributor has the necessary rights over the work that they are contributing. Either they are the original author of the work and hence own the copyright, or the work that they are contributing has been released under a suitable license.
The purpose of the CLA is to establish a clear lineage for contributed work. It also requires that the contributor sublicense any patents that they hold which apply to the contribution.
Any rights granted to Overte under this agreement are sublicensed to entities receiving the code via the IP Rights Grant.
The CLA does not require copyright assignment - the contributor will continue to hold copyright over their own contributions.
If you are contributing as an individual, please print out, sign, and send us a scan of the Individual CLA. If you are contributing as part of a company, you will need to send us an Individual CLA and the company will need to have submitted an Entity CLA.
When you submit an individual CLA, please also fill in the field on the form that tells us your username on the OpenSimulator Mantis bug tracking system. We will then be able to accept patches through this system.
When you have submitted a CLA, we will e-mail you back using the address attached to your username in the Mantis system to confirm acceptance of the CLA.
The e-mail address to send the completed CLA is admin AT overte.org. If you want to ask any general questions about the CLA that aren't covered by the FAQ, please join the OpenSimulator developer's mailing list and post the question there. If you have a personal query about completing the CLA, then please send it to admin AT overte.org.
